I only have Windows Movie Maker, cut and paste.

I'm using Adobe Creative Cloud. There's 30 day free trial. I installed it on my PC about three weeks ago. Then I wanted to do some editing on the road so I installed it on my MacBook Pro...and the trial restarted, 30 more days.

I use Windows Movie Maker... It kinda sucks compared to the older versions of Movie Maker, but it's passable. I don't really like GoPro's editing software.

Yeah, I don't like GoPro's software either. I'm not sure if it even lets you cut files?
WMM is definitely lacking, I wanted to cut out audio from one clip and use another clips audio for the exterior shots (wind buffeting FTL), but I don't think it can do that.
I looked into Lightworks, but its a 30 day trial as well.

Sony Vegas Pro
It has pretty much everything you need to make your movie cool.
Except 3D text... doing 3D text sucks in Vegas Pro.

Cool, thanks I wasn't sure if any of the 30 day trials will allow constant re-installs.

Have you tried the updated cineform tool from Gopro...its decent. I use the adobe suite because I have it for work, but if you want something on the cheap, check out Sony Vegas: fast, easy to learn and relatively cheap.

The new version lets you cut files and has some nice stuff, but I just don't like it.
To do that in WMM you'd have to cut the audio out using some other program and put it in as "music" or something like that. Kind of a pain.

Check out The Piratebay, and get yourself a copy of Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas 9, or if you wanna go pro get Avid.
